Improvements.

Hi everyone!
So I just wanted to make sure you all know that I am slowly recovering from my bread comatose the other day. I went on an awesome run yesterday after class that took me sightseeing around the River Ile, Council of Europe, and European Parliament. I even found some regular road (aka not cobblestone) to run on so my shins don't hate me forever! In all I completed a speedy 3.12 miles in 33 minutes. I was very pleased considering my nutrition downward spiral since arriving. Maybe all the carbo-loading is helping?! :)

A girl can dream. I digress...following a much needed shower (which still takes me forever on hair washing days, ugh) I made a stellar lunch of leftovers! Checkout my rainbow plate! My gorgeous dish contained 1/2 head of lettuce, saffron rice, tomato, and leftover Ratatouille. I dominated this plate. Body needs a steady stream of veggies at all time.

But let us be real here for a moment. I am in the land of fresh bread and chocolate. So I promptly broke into my host mom's stash of Nutella and smeared it on un petit pain. The picture is mid-deliciousness obviously.

This week has absolutely flown by. I don't know if it is because I am finally adjusted and love living abroad or the looming paper and presentation deadline that I have successfully avoided? Let's go with a combination. Needless to say, I found an adorable café very close to the SU center to get my study on.Yesterday, I buried myself in a corner and did not leave until I produced 3 pages. Pretty legit right? Yes, well I was no where near finished, so I returned today between classes. Un jus de pomme
Iphoto is fabulous for procrastinating and creeping out Strasbourg locals. I did manage to write another four pages, which I am beyond ecstatic about considering I have no written a legitimate paper since December. Spring 2010 consisted of little academic work, but lots of fun times. Three guesses as to what I ordered for lunch??We're you right?? :) J'adore le pain ici, I don't know what's going on, but I may need an intervention. Post-consumption, and class, a friend and balanced out the breadful (new word? meh) lunch by walking around in search of hummus. We were not successful but it's ok because I think we walked about 2 miles in all. I am always down for unplanned exercise. :) Plus it keeps me from afternoon snacking and lets me see the sights! We found an adorable church, but because I was sans camera, I have no photo. (For shame, too. Bad blogger, bad.)

I returned to the abode around 7:30 and entered to some seriously scrumptious food.Tonight, Madame a fait pour moi eggplant in marinara sauce with cheese, spinach and mozzarella stuffed tortellini, and a beautiful green salad. Here is a close up of my portion. To drink, I had a new treat. Le jus de raisin kind of tasted like grape juice but not quite. It was a little less sweet. Interesting. For dessert, because there is always a dessert with my host mom, she tried to feed me with cheese. Y'all be proud because I said no to a fresh loaf of bread! Instead, I had a light alternative. Peach yogurt with an in season peach! Yum!

So there were some tentative plans for a trip to Munich this weekend but I think the group decided it was not worth the money. Today, I also did some research on a day trip to Luxembourg (solely for the fact that I want to say I have been there) but no trains are running there until Saturday afternoon! Ugh. I suppose that is just not meant to be. So the new plan is to rent a bike for the weekend and hopefully bike to the Black Forrest in Germany and continue touring around Strasbourg!

I am going to finish my paper now so I can enjoy the weekend!
Bon soir mes amis!
~
